talking about a revolution

where is the angry undercurrents, dissenting voices? the fire, the passion! we need some drama here. people walk around like zombies, deadened looks in their eyes, only living for the next pint in the pub. they need life, they need God. they need something to boil their blood and rouse the fire within their lifeless souls! i feel like i'm living in Tim Burton's corpse bride land. where the living are dead, and the dead living. this is a culture in decay, decay because of complacency, loose morals and political correctness. manchester, it looks vibrant but it is really a ghost town.

this rambling post is attributed to the stress of research projects and reading too much elizabeth gaskell novels.

allegorical ties & strings

I am missing proper family sit downs, church get togethers and overall fellowship with like-minded people. One of the reasons I absolutely loathed leaving France was not the Mediterranean scenes, not the remarkably fine-looking people in their remarkably well-tailored outfits nor the frequent gustating of gelato(i never knew ice-cream had so many flava flavs).

None of the above though I would be very content living in that kind of environment instead of putting up with the potty-mouthed English. I don't dislike the English, I really don't. But they are the most boring population in all of Europe, however interesting their history is. They are dull in nature, behave like sheep & think like preprogrammed robots. And they're unforgivably bland-looking. I do like rural English villages with their afternoon teas, scones and jams. But! I digress.

I loved France for la famille, incomprehensible they may be due to the language barrier but feeling comfortable nonetheless amongst people of like mind. Makes you realise how fabulous the chinese are, with all their traditional ideas and daily practice.

I'm just rambling on a Friday night, knowing that summer hols and home is not too far away now. Thank GOD!

shock & envy

i need new shoes. i do. like ballet flats or something. rachel showing off her sparkly red ballet flats has got me jealous.

i've got "events" coming in december & haven't got a decent pair of party shoes, except for a pair of purple heels which are worn down. i only have 4 pairs of shoes, half of which are sneakers. like what! scandalous.

the mirror nearly cracked when i took a good look in it just now. the old eyebrows need some major reshaping,i'm starting to look like bert or ernie. goodness i've really let myself go.

one of those extremely rare days when i concern myself with female fashion nonsense- hence the sesame street eyebrows. i don't normally, honest i don't. =D

Psalm 45

i love Psalm 45. Especially the first verse. the headings say, to the tune of "Lilies". Of the Sons of Korah. A wedding song.

1. My heart is stirred by a noble theme

as I recite my verses for the king,

my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.

2. You are the most excellent of men

and your lips have been anointed with grace

since God has blessed you forever.

3. Gird your sword upon your side, O mighty one

clothe yourself with splendour and majesty.

It speaks of King David's marriage preparations to a princess from Tyre. Read on and there's the princess' preparation. Gowns woven with gold, embroidered garments. Beautiful, no? In my opinion, this was probably a very popular, topping the charts tune back in that era. =D You got the ephod-wearing levites toe-tapping, swaying to this song. There is a song based on this psalm by Greg Silverman titled 'Noble Theme'. Ah, lovely lovelies.
