on a clear day.....
snapping random photos from my window. pleasantly unoccupied this sunday morning. my flatmates are making a ruckus with some guys in the kitchen. must try to study later. lotsa catching up to do. salford is a boring, polluted place. i wish i was in the english countryside. that would be pretty. well, make lemonade out of lemons eh. good thing is, i got over homesickness in one week. haha! i'm content.
manchester's an industrial town. all the ugly kilang-kilang.

help!

ooh ooh, i'm itching to watch pride & prejudice BBC's 6 part series! i caught only the first 2 parts before i had to fly off. *geram* this version is so much better than the one with keira whatever-her-name-is. colin firth is much better as Fitzwilliam Darcy. the other guy just looked plain depressed all the time, with that perpetually suicidal look. someone please please tell me how to watch movies on my pc! i have, have, have to watch the whole thing.
Psalm of the day: Psalm 136. Thankfulness.
"what to do?" that is the question
its the weekend and i've got nothing planned. would love to go to church, but no idea which church and how to get there. roar! i guess its just toshiba and me for the weekend. my housemates been asking me to go out, but i'm not risking getting mugged or have my drink spiked in manchester city centre. lotsa weirdos running around in manchester. plus, its so expensive to travel and eat outside. for them its alright, but for me its times 7! 1pound=7ringgit. they must think i'm some weird asian who studies all the time and locks her door almost obsessively. another cho seung-hui. haha...well, hard cheese!

the little chef
i cooked! i cooked! and nothing was set on fire! woohoo! i didn't just fry an egg, if thats what you were thinking. yesterday i made cabbage soup, cooked rice in the rice cooker and fried luncheon meat. hahah! what an accomplishment. 3 dishes for a first timer. nyeh! thank Adonai Eloheinu, He led me to some nice chinese people, a brunei girl in my class, a singaporean guy, and a couple more china chinese folks. the south-east asians (all first timers, by the way) cooked. watch out for the master chef coming your way!
today's class was not bad. we got to manhandle each other, touching each other's butts and thighs. thats physio, people. touchy-feely. and mind you, we don't just practice on the same sex. unfortunately, none really really fit guys or really handsome ones either. =P. quite interesting physio is. the only drawback is that my fingers gotta be pretty strong to palpate people, and obese people will be pretty difficult. *gasps when i imagine it*
Psalm of the day: Psalm 121. lovely and lyrical.

He is good
1. I will exalt you, O Lord
for you lifted me out of the depths
and did not let my enemies gloat over me
2. O Lord my God, I called to you for help and you healed me
3. O Lord you brought me up from sheol
you spared me from going down into the pit
4. Sing to the Lord you saints of His
praise His holy name!
5. For His anger lasts only a moment
but His favour lasts a lifetime
weeping may remain for a night
but rejoicing comes in the morning.
6. When I felt secure, I said " I will never be shaken"
7. O Lord, when You favoured me,
You made my mountain stand firm,
but when You hid Your face, I was dismayed.
8. To You, O Lord, I called;
to the Lord I cried for mercy;
9. "What gain is there in my destruction,
in my going down into sheol?"
Will the dust praise You?
Will it proclaim Your faithfulness?
10. Hear O Lord and be merciful to me;
O Lord be my help.
11. You turned my wailing into dancing;
You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy
that my heart may sing to You and not be silent
Adonai Eloheinu, I will give You thanks forever. Psalm 30

of apples and sundays
went to church on sunday. twas alright. i spent the weekend with me mum and brother at a nice lady's home in salford. nice comely homely chinese lady with a chihuahua. and the beds in the house! oh my my my. so comfy. so lovely. like sleeping in heaven. after church we went apple picking! imagine..i've always wanted to pick apples just like peter & jane! and then, for lunch, roast lamb and ginger beer. i never liked lamb but this was deeeeelicious. mmm! well, glad to have found a fellow malaysian in my class although she moved to brunei some years back. not all ang mohs are friendly k? their values are not so good for a good nice girl like me. clubbing and drinking is not my thing. i prefer the church-going, tea-drinking, dog-loving types. =) anyway, had a nice sunday. i don't want to go back to my hostel. =( i wanna pick apples everyday.

am here.am cold.
i'm here! in salford. enjoying the english wet cold weather. how to describe it? bleak. just plain depressing bleak. argh. my feet are cold. interesting flight though, as seeing it was me first international flight. some drunken english fellow who gulped down so much alcohol but still insisted on having more gin and tonic. ooh, the food on emirates was quite good. never went hungry. and nice movies too! my fave, sound of music was playing. =D
no time for jetlag. sighs. went straight to register blah blah blah after arriving. walked everywhere. buildings are 5-15 minutes apart but walking is tiresome for a pampered penangite. somemore the weather so cold, windy and rainy. blah! in the end, my hair looked like some mop that had been involved in a typhoon.
good thing is, have nice housemates. nice english girls. very helpful. right now, am really thankful for my Bible. oh so thankful. and thankful for my loverly family who cushioned this traumatic experience. haha..otherwise i might have gone siao already. what with the having to sit on the plane for so long, finding out the weather is so bleak and most probably gonna get worse! have this feeling i'm gonna be thankful for alot more.
oh, i'm so tired. going to sleep. for now, bye.
here's some pictures for y'all.

thats the pub down the road.
mary seacole building, where i go everyday.
nice view of manchester, eh?
the appalling state of my room. i know. *sheepish grin*

anyway, its goodbye penang and hello salford. nervous? a little. apprehensive? a little more. all tingly? a little bitty bit. =) well, i'll be seeing y'all.
